Vatican Insider: The Bishop of Aleppo continues by saying: “Terrorist groups in Syria have grown up killing, kidnapping and mercilessly destroying entire cities, ruining the lives of thousands of people forever, raising everything including monuments to the ground. And all the while, the international community remained indifferent. In light of the Paris attacks, we need to unite together in a genuine and determined way to counter terrorism”.
This is not the first time Syrian bishops have proposed a reflection of this kind: “As we have said on more than one occasion, terrorist groups like IS receive money, arms and training from the great powers due to economic and political interests. This is an issue the Pope has raised too but his voice has gone unheard”. Full report is here.
