Yesterday, we launched a redesigned Catholicism.org news portal. We implemented this new “bloggish” feature to make it easier to post up-to-date headlines and comments.

Saint Ann’s House Has a Web Site

In the post, “The Status of Father Feeney’s Doctrinal Position,” I stated that the Sisters of Saint Ann’s House do not have a website. That has changed. The good Sisters now have a site here: Sisters of Saint Benedict Center, Slaves of the Immaculate Heart of Mary.

Happy Feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe!

We wish all our readers a happy and holy Festival of Our Lady of Guadalupe. Tonight, after praying the Rosary, we will have a candlelight procession from our main chapel to the Priory backyard, singing Marian hymns.

October 13: Come to a Rosary Rally Near You!

October 13, 2007, marks the ninetieth anniversary of the Miracle of the Sun at Fatima, Portugal. The miracle, which testified to the truth of Our Lady’s apparition to three shepherd children, was witnessed by 70,000 people, including atheists, communists, and other anti-Catholics.

We’re Going on Pilgrimage!

This September 26-29, the Slaves of the Immaculate Heart of Mary will join the “Pilgrimage for Restoration,” a real American pilgrimage for Catholic tradition. Every year, near the Feast of the Eight North American Martyrs (September 26), we journey with other traditional Catholics from all over the US and Canada on pilgrimage to the Martyr’s Shrine in New York State.

Brother Francis Turns 94

Ninety four years ago today — the Feast of Saint Vincent de Paul, July 19, 1913 — Brother Francis (Fakhri Maluf) was born in a small village near Beirut, Lebanon. Because he did not breathe right away, the Catholic midwife baptized him in an emergency baptism.

Pro Multis

Cardinal Arinze, the prefect of the Congregation for Divine Worship, has just affirmed that pro multis means “for many” and not “for all.” It’s a sad commentary on the state of ecclesiastical affairs that such a statement of the obvious had to come from Rome, but we are glad to hear it nonetheless. Now Allowed: “Serious and Constructive Criticism of Vatican II”?

With this mailing, the “Catholicism.org Email List” takes on a new identity: «Ad Rem» A Weekly Email Message from the Prior. The simple format will remain essentially unchanged. Besides site updates and news about the Crusade, I plan to offer a brief, ad rem (“to the point”) commentary on a timely or otherwise important matter in each number.

Help Wanted: Young Man to Help Religious with Desktop Publishing

The brothers are looking for a young man to help us in the area of layout and graphic design, as part of the St. René Goupil donné program. In this program, men ages 15 and up work for room and board for pre-agreed periods of six or twelve months.
