Cardinal Newman Society: Dr. Charles Rice, emeritus law professor at the University of Notre Dame, passed away on February 25, The Cardinal Newman Society learned in correspondence with law school faculty. Rice impacted many lives and contributed greatly to both Notre Dame’s academics and its Catholic identity, often pointing out the ways it abused that identity, during his more than 40 years at the University.
