As intended, this article makes me cringe. I can't imagine a devout catholic holding to all its points, but many catholics, here and there, may hold to one or more of these ideas, (or worse). On some points, though, ignorance is an excuse. Until I read the articles on Franco, I had no idea that he was Catholic, or that there was even another side to the story. Now, I find that there is always another side of the story, the true one, which we are never told.

May God give us great catechists and great defenders of the Faith.

Mr. Sifdol, we are and always were very pro-Franco. The criticism of Franco in this article is in jest. The fellow "speaking" is a liberal Catholic. Liberals of that era (the article was written in 1948) were "embarrassed" by Franco, and liberals still smear his memory. Sadly, there were American Catholics who joined the foolish "Lincoln Brigade" to fight FOR the communists and anarchists AGAINST a great Catholic man who wanted to restore Spain.

Again, I'm looking forward to any comments on my comments. You all have the time to write these righteous articles, but apparently don't have the time to respond to those who take the time to respond to your articles unless they disagree with you. Am I correct?

I'm not sure how the late Dictator of Spain fits into this article? It is interesting that any Catholic could make the statement that Francisco Franco was "a great source of embarrassment to all Catholics." Such comments drip with hypocrisy then and now. If it were not for Franco, your precious church in Spain would have disappeared completely. Remember the Spanish Civil War of 1936-1939. You need to read "The Last Crusade" by Warren Carroll. Now with the socialists back in Spain again, and going strong, maybe they will be able to make the Roman Catholic Church there disappear completely. After all, that was their fervent desire with the birth of the Spanish Republic in 1931. (I welcome comments on my comments)
