Cowardination

In little tasks of daily life
Which every man must do,
Like climbing up and down a hill,
Or counting two and two,

There are so many ins and outs
In one’s anatomy,
So many wires to be pulled
And levers to set free,

If I did not have faith in God
To regulate me right,
I think I’d jump from Brooklyn Bridge
And finish me in fright.
