Curious Carthusian News

Readers may recall that, a little over two years ago, we reported that…

The new Prior General of the Carthusians, Dom François Marie Velut, O. Carth., was once known as Frère Michel de la Sainte Trinité.

…and was the Fatima scholar who wrote a hard-hitting and scholarly trilogy on the whole truth of Fatima.

This former disciple of the Abbe de Nantes has asked to be relieved of his duties “for health reasons.”

Now, from Gloria.TV news, comes this interesting notice concerning his replacement:

Connections: The new Prior General of the Cathusians, Dom Dysmas de Lassus, has strong family ties to the Priestly Fraternity of Saint Pius X through his eldest brother who worships with the Fraternity. This brother has two sons, Jean and Baudoin, who are priests and a daughter, Blandine, who is a Carmelite. All three are also part of the Fraternity.

Readers: If you know, please comment below to confirm that this is indeed the son of the intrepid Arnauld de Lassus, the French traditionalist layman who has done so much work for tradition in France. I am aware that Arnauld’s son entered La Grande Chartreuse some years ago.

All this leads me to ask the rhetorical question: What is going on in the Carthusians?

Here, by the way, is the news as reported by Le Salon Beige:
