For Lu - Thanks for the suggestion. I am presently researching Mother Lurana's story further. From my reading so far, she was a special and holy child from the very beginning.

For ED - My short contact with the Graymoor site via email informed me that they do continue to work and pray for unity among Christians. Your comments on your grandmother's work there are interesting. She is surely rewarded for her efforts.
Regarding the question of the removal of the Octave from the 1962 Missal. When a feast is officially removed, it can still be celebrated at the option of the priest or religious community (such as the FSSP). Here at St. Benedict Center, the 1962 Missal is also used, and we celebrated the Jan. 18th Feast of the Chair of St. Peter and the Octave by praying the daily prayers for each intention after morning Mass, ending on Jan. 25 with the Feast of the Conversion of St. Paul. Thank you for your observations.

I do remember the Octave as it was originally. I have always loved this movement in the Church, especially since I was named for Mother Lurana. Could you tell her side of the story?

I was looking at the Graymoor site and while they still do good work helping alcoholics and other misfortunes of life, they seem spiritually from what is posted to have departed from the 100% orthodoxy of Father Paul and have slid into the Relativistic Ecumenical fervor of the post Vatican 2 church. How sad that many of todays priests and sisters have no regard to the Salvation of Souls completely satisfied to only supplying material needs.

I have sort of a personal connection to Graymoor, my Grandmother on my mother's side during the 1930s, 1940s and 1950s took the train from her Hells Kitchen (Manhattan) apartment to help out on weekends up there. My mom remembers it well. P.S.--- I dont know if the 1962 Missal eliminated the Chair of St. Peter feast , today i went to mass at the FSSP parish in Sacramento and he said the Chair of St. Peter mass and telling us this was the beginning of the octave of unity, perhaps it was the 1965 or Novus Ordo Missal that dropped it.
