Christ’s Commission and Obama’s Mandate: A Teachable Moment

The big news in American Catholic circles is the Obama administration’s “contraceptive mandate.” This latest unethical intrusion of big governmnet stipulates that employers, including religious institutions, provide their employees with insurance coverage for contraceptives, sterilizations, and specific abortifacients such as Ella and Plan B.

Catholic Action League Executive Director C. J. Doyle summarized the situation: “If this unprecedented aggression against the religious freedom rights of Catholics is allowed to stand, then virtually all Catholic institutions — colleges, universities, secondary schools, hospitals, charities, service providers, fraternal orders, and advocacy organizations — will be forced to pay for procedures, devices, and chemicals abhorrent to the consciences of Catholics.”

LifeNews reports: A man was arrested on Saturday outside a late-term abortion facility in New Mexico after he threatened to shoot two pro-life women providing alternatives to women going to the Southwestern Women’s Options abortion center. The abortion center is operated by late-term abortion practitioner Curtis Boyd. Read more here.

It’s amazing how out of control many in the pro abortion camp really get. I have heard known exorcists say that there is an element of the demonic in the whole industry. I have heard that some people who are involved with clinics are actually practicing neo pagans, wiccans and satanists and that some have referred to abortion as a “sacrament” as if to mock the Catholic understanding in a perverse and diabolical way not unlike the infamous black Mass.

I heard a priest say that if he were a bishop he would send out priests once a week to exorcise abortion clinics. It would seem that now anyone who even wishes to protest outside of one might end up catching a bullet.

Justin’s comment is right on, but sadly, in many cases the police are antagonistic to the pro-lifers. Why is that, I wonder, when in the majority of cases of conflict or near conflict at or near the death mills, those fostering the killing of the pre-born, are the aggressors and sometimes physically so. This time, thank Heaven, the outcome was different.
