Philippine SC Passes Contraception and Sex-Ed Law in Defiance of Bishops

Under the oxymoronic title, Reproductive Health Law, the high court of the Philippines betrays its Catholic Culture and morals and makes it legal to frustrate God’s law for human reproduction by artificial means. Now teachers in public schools will be free to add to the moral corruption of school children with sex-ed programs.

UCANews: Archbishop Socrates Villegas said: “With or without the [Supreme Court] decision it is the duty of the Church to be teaching about life. Our duty does not depend on civil laws, our duty comes from God,” he said.

Catholic Church leaders have been opposing the law, convinced that it is “anti-life” and “anti-family” because it promotes artificial contraceptives.

“The real battle goes beyond RH [Reproductive Health Law], and that is to win back the hearts of the young,” said Father Melvin Castro, head of the Commission on Family and Life of the bishops’ conference.

He said the country’s youth have been using contraceptives “with or without the law. That is why the Church has a lot of work to do.”

Castro said the bishops would respect the court decision but they will not let “the gospel teaching be compromised.”
