President Announces Operation Iraqi Freedom is Over

Randy Sly reports for Catholic Online: “Tonight, I am announcing that the American combat mission in Iraq has ended,” the president stated. “Operation Iraqi Freedom is over, and the Iraqi people now have lead responsibility for the security of their country.” Full report is here.

What drivel! This president is just one of a bunch of neo-liberals dead set on delivering the knockout blow to what is left of sanity and respect for America. But the sad part is that since last Friday, over 20 American soldiers have been killed in Afghanistan alone! For what, may I ask? I have asked this question before: why are WE to be the world’s cop? Do we invade other countries because of some malevolent dictator who inflicts torture and mayhem on his own people; does that give us a mandate to sacrifice thousands of our troops in order to bring that dictator down and bring “democracy” (as well as the “fruits” of democracy) to the ravaged country? I have a suggestion: have the president and the members of Congress and the Senate jump into the uniform and hop on over to Iraq, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Iran, Kosovo, Gaza, Sudan, Nigeria, etc, and get a few tracer rounds fired in their direction or a few roadside bombs blow up while in their vehicles, or some mortar rounds flung over their heads. In other words, get a “feel” of what it’s like to be under fire. See what others do to defend THEIR country FROM us! We are hated because we are invaders and occupiers. Are the “terrorists”, the “insurgents”, the “militants” and such the real bad guys, or are we? Who would not defend American soil if WE were invaded and occupied? And wouldn’t we be called terrorists, insurgents, and militants? O Lord, have mercy on us..
