For some reason a line from the crazy Irishman in Braveheart comes to mind: “It’s my island.” The emerald isle is Patrick’s island. How far your people have wandered, O great shepherd, from the path of the cross that they knew so well and for so long! Do not forsake the Irish. Heed the prayers of the simple and the poor who still hold on to the pearl of great price. Intercede for Erin. Ask Our Lady to raise up another man like Frank Duff and his Legion of Mary to continue the work you began, O glorious Saint Patrick.
