Saint Raymond was the third General of the Dominican Order. He was also the cofounder, with Saint Peter Nolasco, in 1218, of the Order of Mercedarians, for the redemption of Catholic captives from the Mohammedans. Saint Raymond of Pennafort was one hundred years old when he died.
