Mr. Stauffers' story is my story. I am in the process of trying to find everyone I brought into the Church of Christ and apologizing to them. My whole family is in the ministry. The names of their groups have changed and they are more evangelical but the basics are the same. They hold a monopoly on truth. They totally accept sola scriptura but can't tell you have we came to have the scriptures.

Thanks for this!

I grew up COC and became Catholic, also. The last COC congregation we attended had an elder named Stauffer. I didn't experience the sense of betrayal you did because I was told the "restoration" version of COC history from an early age. It took growing up and a good bit of time for me to realize how silly it was. Like you, I found the Catholic Church was the only way to reconcile the facts of history. Thanks for sharing your story.

you obviously weren't strong in the word at all...if you knew anything youd know that the church of christ's whole doctrine isnt based off of romans 16:16, it is a combination of scriptures which prove the chruch of christ to be true. Its the doctrine that makes the church of christ true God constantly pushes the point of oneness and unity in the bible especially in doctrine. How are we all going to heaven teaching different things?God says otherwise
second everyone is responsible for there own soul just because youre church leadership was screwed doesnt mean the doctrine was the word is true no matter what. Your old COC leadership will have to answer to God for what they did as well you my because to have known the truth and turn away from it is a sin...Since God says we will be judged from the book then shouldnt we do what the book says? we all know the book is the bible, the law to man given to man, the light, the instructions on how to please God right? remember he says do not add to or take away from the word right? Just like when a teacher gives a test the material from which the test came from is in the textbook.. so if we want to pass the test then we should the study the textbook right? same with God and the bible the road to heaven is a test but hes given us the answers to pass it already its the all in the bible... we should be able to prove all things and why we do them when it comes to God. Can catholics justify or prove half the thing they do when i comes to worship? God says we must worship him in spirit and in truth.. What is the truth? he says his word is truth? Is there truth in the catholic faith? if you would like to discuss this feel free to email me so we can get more scriptural.
