Nearly Half a Million Faithful Came to Honor Our Lady of the Pillar
Even the Royal Air Club of Zaragoza sent two planes to drop flowers from the heavens. And two F-18s from the military did a fly over. With the socialist government doing all it can to undermine the Catholic Faith in Spain this is a very encouraging response: the humble children of Sant’ Iago still love the Blessed Mother. Our Lady of the Pillar
Perhaps the oldest devotion to Our Lady in Europe is the devotion to Our Lady of the Pillar. In Spain, Pilar is a popular girl’s name, as is Mercedes for Our Lady of Mercy. (In fact, General Franco named one of his daughters Pilar, just as one of the Carmelite Martyrs written of in this issue was named Sister Maria del Pilar.)
