The Conversion of Russia Must Be to the Catholic Faith

Russia’s original sin was not Communism but schism. That was the major sin of Russia in 1917 when Our Lady appeared to the Fatima children. Rejecting Communism is not a religious conversion; rejecting schism is. Russia will be converted. Our Lady promised it. But the country must be consecrated to her Immaculate Heart, collegially, with the Pope and his bishops united, before that can happen. I admire the zeal of the priest who is interviewed in this Zenit article, but he is misunderstanding the Fatima message when he says:

“We, however, have to understand the Russian mentality in order to be able to provide the right help and at the same time we must understand and love the Orthodox Church. We have to understand that we are guests and the conversion and renewal of the faith can come only through and in the Orthodox Church. In order to help the Orthodox Church we must understand the Church.”
