A priest I knew, who went to seminary in Rome, told me about an old professor that would introduce some thoughts with the words: “due parole…,” which means “two words” in Italian. The joke was that this old priest would never finish such a monologue in anything near two words. Hopefully, my two words will be closer to the mark.
This Ad Rem is somewhat transitional in that it is the first written for (and indeed from) our new web site. For those reading this by email, please make sure you see the new (and yes, improved) Catholicism.org. When you get there, make sure you read the tab marked “New Catholicism.org,” which has some important explanations. Eventually, God willing, our email delivery of the Ad Rem will catch up with the new system. As of now, we are still using PHP List.
There is a sale at the Store right now. Everything is 10% off. Given the economic decline the Republic is suffering, it might be a good time to get Christmas gifts.
Also, especially for email readers, I must bring your attention to two new articles posted on the site:
- The Poet’s Eye: Gerard Manley Hopkins’ “Margaret Clitheroe” by Mark Alessio. A very moving piece on an unfinished but gripping piece of poetry by the renowned Jesuit poet.
- Bishop Francis Clement Kelley (1870-1948) by Brian Kelly (no relation!). This great Irish-Canadian-American bishop had the spirit of an Apostle. Readers will note that this article shows up in a category dedicated to a “Catholic America“.
Last — and least — there are two new columns posted in our new feature, “From the Laptops.” (Yes, it is a reference to our old magazine, From the Housetops): We’re Headed Straight for the Future and Biblical Inerrancy Revisited (but not Revised).
We hope to provide great new articles and columns like these on a regular basis. Our new site provides us with a more efficient medium for getting our message across to the public, for God’s glory, for the love of Our Lady, and for the salvation of souls. Please consider making a donation if you haven’t in a while, to help offset the expenses we’ve had to put into this venture.
Alright, so it wasn’t two words! May our Lord Jesus Christ the King bless and keep you, your families, and our nation. Christus vincit, Christus regnat, Christus imperat!
I hope to see some of you in Wisconsin in a couple of days!
