Vatican II, Pope Benedict XVI, and No Salvation Outside the Church

1Peter5, Maike Hickson: “[Pope Benedict XVI]:The missionaries of the 16th century were convinced that the unbaptized person is lost forever. After the [Second Vatican] Council, this conviction was definitely abandoned. The result was a two-sided, deep crisis. Without this attentiveness to the salvation, the Faith loses its foundation. [emphasis added]” Full article is here.

Yes – Pope Benedict got tangled up with the reactionaries, and has apologized numerous times. Still I believe he is one of the greatest theologians the Church has had. If we only read his words – not what others say he says we’d be greatly blessed.
Please remember to pray for an old friend who is having some health issues. He opened my eyes, and I think we balanced each other. His name is Chuck Grove and he lives in Brookings now. Through the prayers of the Mother of God save us all.

PS – That’s supposed to read – Through the prayers of the Mother of God, Oh Savior save us all! And thank God for the Eastern Rite, a safe refuge in these confused times.
