James Buchanan was President from 1857 to 1861. Webster died in 1852 and Calhoun in 1850. Is this incident authentic - if so, it obviously happened long before Buchanan was elected President. James Buchanan was President from 1857 to 1861. Webster died in 1852 and Calhoun in 1850. Is this incident authentic – if so, it obviously happened long before Buchanan was elected President. Or maybe it was some other President?
