Who Am I?

I was a great warrior for the Israelites, one of thirty-seven men of might.

I was not a Jew. But I believed in the true religion.

I am the only non-Hebrew man mentioned in the Savior’s genealogy.

I did not contribute seed to the Messiah’s bloodline.

My people were very ancient. They are traced back to Noah through his grandson Canaan and Canaan’s son Cham. So, I am not a Semite, although my name is Hebrew. It means “God is my light.”

My people had much reverence for Abraham and paid him a great favor upon his request.

I lived a thousand years after Abraham and I was killed in battle against the Ammonites through the treachery of a powerful man who had been my friend.
