Bishop Frederic Baraga’s Cause Moves Forward

Catholic Culture reports: “The Diocese of Marquette (Michgian) has completed its investigation into a cure attributed to the intercession of the Servant of God Frederic Baraga (1797-1868), a Slovenian missionary who became the diocese’s first bishop. A liver tumor reportedly disappeared after the bishop’s stole was placed on the patient’s abdomen.”

To read about the edifying life of this missionary — the only bishop ever to write a pasoral letter in a native American language — please see Brian Kelly’s The Snowshoe Priest: the Servant of God, Bishop Frederic Baraga. There is also a Wikipedia article on the Servant of God.
