An Addition Game for the Itchy Eared

Solve this math problem, and then find out what your answer tells you about yourself:

2+2=__

If you said four, congratulations! This answer is lovely and quaint in an old-fashioned sort of way. It shows you to be loyal and persevering, but also that you’ll need to be on guard against narrow mindedness.

If you said zero, congratulations! This answer is perfectly fun! It shows you to be energetic and liberal in facing reality.

If you said three or five, congratulations! These are strong answers that show you to be analytical and to have an impressive estimative sense about things.

If you gave any other number for your answer, congratulations for giving a creative answer. You are both imaginative and courageous. You will lead others to discover new and broad horizons.

If you said the answer is anything or everything, congratulations! This answer is extremely philosophical! You are deep, and your profound insights about life will prove invaluable.

If you said there is no answer, or that there never could be, congratulations for being in touch with yourself. Not many people have learned to integrate their mind with their emotions. You show yourself to be sensitive and sensible.

If you said there is only one correct answer, we regret to inform you that you are self-centered, intolerant, and destructive. You are the kind of person who will not hesitate to force your ideas on others, and even worse, to try to control the minds of others. You are dangerous to society and to yourself. Because there is little hope of your ever being able to see reality in color instead of in black and white, you would do well to turn yourself over to the authorities to be locked away. Or better yet, find a kind doctor who will mercifully assist you to move into a quiet but peaceful mode of being. It would be a great service to the rest of us.

“For there shall be a time when they will not endure sound doctrine but, according to their own desires, they will heap to themselves teachers having itching ears: And will indeed turn away their hearing from the truth. . .” (2 Tim. 4:3).
