Correction to Our “Who Are They Kidding” News Post

With so much information floating around Catholic sites, there’s bound to be inaccurate or even false reports sometimes.  Apparently this was the case in regard to the Vatican’s rejection of U.S. ambassador choices.  Our apologies.

LifeNews reports: The Vatican (LifeNews.com) — Initial news reports in both American and Italian media outlets initially indicated The Vatican had rejected as many as three potential ambassadors for pro-abortion President Barack Obama because of their supportive abortion views. Now, a spokesman says the Holy See has not rejected any potential diplomats. As LifeNews.com noted, Italian journalist Massimo Franco reported in the Corriere della Sera (Evening Courier) newspaper that the Vatican quietly and informally rejected three potential Obama representatives. “The informal dismissal of the first names whispered in the Obama inner circle is a signal,” he said, claiming that all was not well between the new pro-abortion president and the Vatican. Jesuit Father Federico Lombardi, a Holy See spokesman, told the Catholic News Service on Thursday that Franco’s report was incorrect. “No proposals about the new ambassador of the United States to the Holy See have reached the Vatican, and therefore it is not true that they have been rejected. The rumors circulating about this topic are not reliable,” he said. CNS indicated other sources, who preferred not to be named or spoke off the record, also denied the accuracy of Franco’s report of three rejections.
