Good for them. This should have been done after the Land O’Lakes sell out by many once-Catholics colleges in 1969. Back then apathy was as thick as molasses among American Catholics and few really cared about a college’s “Catholic identity.” Notre Dame, and a host of other ex-Catholic colleges, were inviting pro-abortion politicians to be commencement speakers and get honorary awards every year. I don’t recall anyone in the hierarchy protesting these things. Where were the alumni associations then? Now we have a new generation of alumni who are fed up with the betrayals. If the wallet is all they can hit, then I hope they keep firing away. Maybe this type of protest will catch on with other alumni from ex-Catholic colleges.
