Underground Chinese Bishop Arrested in 2001 Dead at 94

Catholic Culture: Bishop Cosmas Shi Enxiang of Yixian, China, who has not been seen in public since his arrest in 2001, has died at the age of 94.

A leader of the “underground” church, Bishop Enxiang spent much of his life in Chinese prisons and labor camps. He was taken into custody most recently on Good Friday of 2001, and since that time government officials have refused to disclose his whereabouts. Read more here.
