Catholic Action League Rebukes Jimmy Kimmel

The following is a Catholic Action League of Massachusetts press release…

Reporter George Rhodes of The Sun Chronicle of Attleboro contacted the Catholic Action League of Massachusetts today for a comment about a crudely offensive comedy skit shown on Jimmy Kimmel Live.

The skit, which was performed on the December 10th broadcast of the late night ABC program, featured a fictional Fitzpatrick family of Attleboro presenting a Nativity scene.

The central character in this vile parody, entitled “A Very Baby Brady Christmas,” is identified as Tommy Brady Fitzpatrick, an obscenity ranting New England Patriots fan who portrays the Baby Jesus. His bearded, alcoholic mother, Darlene, plays the part of Our Blessed Lady. The images of three Patriot players are superimposed on the figures of the Three Wisemen.

Tommy’s diaper is referred to as the “shroud of urine.” If you wish to be disgusted, you can view this loathsome sacrilege here.

In response to the request from The Sun Chronicle, League Executive Director C. J. Doyle issued the following statement: “Jimmy Kimmel’s profanity laced skit demeaned, trivialized, and exploited for a commercial purpose—ratings—the principal event in the history of salvation, the Incarnation of the Second Person of the Holy Trinity.”

“It is also one more tawdry example of the mean spirited culture of contempt which characterizes the attitude of affluent Hollywood elites towards the beliefs and sensibilities of ordinary Christians. Nor should we overlook the grotesque hypocrisy of those elites in the self serving double standard which they apply. Christians, particularly Catholics, are made an object of scorn in ways that would never be permitted with other groups.”

“Sadly, Jimmy Kimmel, in his arrogance, vulgarity and quest for profits, injures himself more than he injures us. He seems to have no conception of the joy of Christmas, with its message of ‘Peace on Earth to men of goodwill.'”
