Catholic Schools Double Enrollment in New Orleans

Several weeks ago I heard an ad on the radio for an organization called Save the Children, specifically those who have suffered in the afermath of Hurrican Katrina.  Sally Fields was asking listeners to send money while the lyric from John Lennon’s Imagine played sweetly in the background: “Imagine there’s no heaven.”

The Catholic Church is doing great work in New Orleans, not only educating, but feeding the 40,000 poor children who come to their schools.

Catholic OnLine reports: Since the Katrina disaster, the schools of the Archdiocese of New Orleans have swelled to double the enrollment of the local public schools. Full article can be          read here.
