(LifeSiteNews) – A priest cherished for his orthodoxy and journalism died unexpectedly.
Father Nicholas Gregoris was 52 when he passed away on Wednesday, August 21. His funeral Mass was celebrated August 26 at the Church of the Holy Innocents in Manhattan. Fr. Peter Stravinskas, who had known the deceased for 37 years, gave the homily. Fr. Gregoris was entombed on August 27 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery in Toms River, New Jersey.
The priest had been living at Newman House in Pine Beach, New Jersey, where he ran Newman House Publishers.
According to the priestly society he co-founded, Fr. Gregoris was born on July 26, 1972 in New York City and studied for the priesthood at Seton Hall University (B.A., 1992) and at the Gregorian University in Rome (S.T.B., 1994). In October 1996, he helped to found the Diocesan Oratory of St. Philip Neri in Mount Pocono, Pennsylvania, which later became the Priestly Society of the Venerable John Henry Cardinal Newman.
