‘I Am a Catholic’: I Forgive the Man Who Murdered My Brother

Sometimes you read stories that tell you that all is not bad in this world; that there are precious souls, humble souls, filled with the love of God, who shine like stars before the angels. “Who is this?” the angels ask. He is Hernan Prado.

I am at a loss for words to eulogize such a man as he. His magnificence defies any human words of praise other than to say he is Christ-like. Grace is very much alive, thank God. It is found this day in an Argentinian Catholic who, in our corrupt age, dares  to fight, and fight manfully, in the army of Mary and crush the head of the serpent in his dying rage. Hernan Prado is a peacemaker and a crusader for all that is good and beautiful. He has raised his sword against hate and vengeance and defeated the enemy of mankind, who is a murderer and a liar. One man, one act. May God bless him and Mary keep him.

CNA: Pointing to his faith in Christ and reliance on the mercy of God, a man in Argentina has voiced public forgiveness to the man who murdered his brother.

“If God forgives us every day and gives us the chance to ‘start over,’ how can I not forgive somebody else?” Hernan Prado said with tears in his eyes during a march his family convened for forgiveness and repentance on Sept. 9.

Around 3,000 people took part in the march.

“The man who killed my brother is also my brother. That is what I want to instill in my nephews and children. I choose to forgive and to extend forgiveness,” Prado said. Read more here.
