The Latin Patriarchate of Jerusalem released a statement concerning the “murder,” on December 16 (Saturday), of two Christian women by an IDF sniper at Holy Family Parish in Gaza. The word murder was used in the Patriarchate’s statement, which is posted below as a JPG image. Holy Family Parish is the only Catholic parish in Gaza.
This war crime cannot be covered with the inadequate fig leaf of “collateral damage.” This was an Israeli sniper — a trained, precision killer — who took out two unarmed, defenseless women on the site of a Catholic parish, a place which was designated since the beginning of this senseless conflict as a place of worship. There was no warning. Hence the word murder.
This single act of gratuitous violence puts the lie to the inflated rhetoric of the Likud regime in Tel Aviv and their willing acolytes in the Unites States government.
But there is more to the story. Earlier that same day, the convent of the Missionaries of Charity, which housed 54 disabled persons, was hit with a rocket from an Israeli tank. The convent of Mother Theresa’s Sisters is on the parish campus of Holy Family. Read the whole brief statement below to discover further atrocities.
Please pray for the repose of the souls of Nahida and Samar. And please pray for peace in Palestine. Our Lady of Palestine, pray for us!
