Money for What?

Attorney fees? Three hundred cases of sexual abuse by clergy and religious brothers and the lawsuits that ensued cost the bankrupt Fairbanks diocese a ton of money.  What a shame.  What will be the cost in the next life for the guilty, the perpetrators and the abettors, and those who knew, or suspected, and said and did nothing?  But the hundred bucks an hour lawyers need to be fed.  They do such good work don’t ya know.

CWN reports: The Diocese of Fairbanks, which filed for bankruptcy in 2008 amid 300 sexual-abuse lawsuits, is sending a special fundraising appeal to 55,000 Catholics nationwide. “The clock is always ticking on attorney fees,” said the chancellor of the north Alaskan diocese. “I know we have incurred more than $2 million in fees to date and part has been paid from a loan and proceeds from the sale of property.”   More here.
