Thanks to Thomas Donnelly’s recent complaint about reCAPTCHA, I have been motivated to remove that anti-spam system from on our site.
For now, I’m working with “Disqus,” which has some built-in anti-spam features. It’s a whole new comment system, but I’ve imported all our old comments. We will probably be debugging it for a while, but please be patient. In fact, if you would comment — or try to — on this page, you will be helping me test it out.
By the way, I just learned that spammers have cracked the technology of these captcha systems, which has forced them to become more and more difficult to read. One tech site claims that humans are now less able to read the captcha phrases than computers are, which, of course, defeats the purpose.
In Heaven, there will be no spam.
