Saint Cloud (560)

He was the grandson of King Clovis and of Saint Clotilde, the Queen. His uncles, so as to stop his accession to the throne of France, murdered his two brothers, and would have murdered him if he had not been taken into safety. He gave up all idea of becoming a king. He became a simple priest, a hermit — and later an abbot and founder of a beautiful monastery near Versailles. The city of Saint Cloud in Minnesota, in the United States, is named after this great and saintly prince and priest.
