She was a daughter of Saint Ermenburga. She was born in England and was educated in France. She gave up her title as a princess to become a Catholic nun. She was made an abbess. The Order to which she belonged was the Benedictines. She is one of the most loved saints in England. Thousands and thousands of English girls have been named for her.
