St. Laurence O’Toole’s Heart Stolen

The article notes that the bones of Saint Laurence O’Toole disappeared during the Protestant Revolt, as did so many relics that were desecrated. His heart was also stolen in that same Revolt, for the Church it was most recently stolen from belongs to that Anglican communion curiously known as the “Church of Ireland.”

DUBLIN (AP) — Officials at Christ Church Cathedral in Dublin said Sunday they’re distraught and perplexed over the theft of the church’s most precious relic: the preserved heart of St. Laurence O’Toole, patron saint of Dublin.
