Russian President Raises July 28, Feast of Saint Vladimir’s Conversion, to National Holiday

Hard to believe being the former was a Black Sabbath fan and the latter is ex KGB, but President Medvedev and predecessor, Prime Minister Vladmir Putin, have publicly professed their Christian Faith very frequently. On the new holiday, Vladimir Putin,  after lighting a candle in Veliky Novgorod’s Saint Sophia Cathedral, said  “This was an event of colossal significance … Russia made a historical choice.”  He and Medvedev have even allocated state funds, 100 million dollars, for the rebuilding of orthodox churches destroyed by the Communists. When one contrasts this with what is going on in America, the difference is 180 degrees. One cannot even utter name Jesus Christ in a government ceremony today. I am not minimizing the Russian orthodox sin of schism. I am just drawing attention to the what could be signs of Russia’s eventual conversion to the Roman Catholic Faith, as Our Lady promised, if the consecration of that country to her Immaculate Heart is properly done.
