Arrested After Quiting Patriotic Association, Bishop Ma Now Accepts CPA Post

Sad news.

UCANews: A Chinese bishop has taken a second post in the same state-aligned organization he quit from during his 2012 episcopal ordination, an event that led to his house arrest.

Auxiliary Bishop Thaddeus Ma Daqin took up a post as a member of the standing committee in the Catholic Patriotic Association (CPA) of Shanghai at a joint meeting of the CPA and Church Affairs Commission of Shanghai on Jan. 20.

A copy of the meeting agenda, obtained by ucanews.com, showed that he was addressed as “Father Ma Daqin.”
