The following is a Catholic Action League of Massachusetts press statement…
On Tuesday, June 16th, Tom Joyce, the Editor-In-Chief of the NewBostonPost, contacted the Catholic Action League of Massachusetts, seeking a comment — after complaints from parents — about a controversial, pro-sodomy message posted on a bulletin board in Dartmouth High School.
The message, arranged in rainbow colors, read HAVE A GAY SUMMER.
Dartmouth High is a public high school in the South Coast, Bristol County Town of Dartmouth, Massachusetts.
In response, League Executive Director C. J. Doyle issued the following statement:
This incident reminds us that the government school system in Massachusetts is a toxic environment for anyone who holds traditional moral values.
That sign sends a message of government disapproval of the moral convictions and religious beliefs of faithful Catholics, Evangelical Protestants, Orthodox Jews and others who hold moral principles founded upon Sacred Scripture and natural law.
It tells Christian students that they are a disfavored minority who had better keep their heads down, their mouths shut and their opinions to themselves.
It also usurps the right of parents to control the moral upbringing of their own children.
Given the dominance of the Democratic Party, the composition of the teachers’ unions and the power of the homosexual lobby in the Bay State, this pro-homosexual bias is not likely to change anytime soon.
Concerned parents should resort to the federal courts for relief from this regime of viewpoint discrimination by a government entity which ought to be constitutionally neutral, not hostile, towards traditional religion.
The long term goal, however, should be to defund and dismantle the government education industry and empower parents with universal school choice.
The great historian and Member of Parliament, Hilaire Belloc, once observed that modern liberal democracies really have no need for secret police forces. According to Belloc, they have something much more effective — public schools.
Doyle’s remarks were published in a story in the NewBostonPost, which appeared yesterday, June 17, 2026.
