The following is a Catholic Action League of Massachusetts press statement…
On Friday, November 10th, Reporter Alice Giordano of The Epoch Times contacted the Catholic Action League of Massachusetts, seeking a comment from Executive Director C. J. Doyle about a story which appeared in LifeSiteNews.
According to the article, the Lepanto Institute revealed that the Catholic Campaign for Human Development had given, over the last decade, nearly a quarter of a million dollars to a far left organization in Minnesota, headed by a former Planned Parenthood activist, which was promoting pornographic, homosexual literature to children.
CCHD had provided grants to the Congregations United To Serve Humanity (CUSH), one of whose programs was to collect graphically obscene books about perverted sexual practices, to stock a library at a proposed LGBTQ “youth center” in Kenosha, targeting middle and high school students.
Catholic Action League Executive Director C. J. Doyle made the following comment:
“Reports that the Catholic Campaign for Human Development—an official Catholic anti-poverty agency under the auspices of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops—has been subsidizing a radical LGBT group which distributes pornographic books to minors, is deeply disturbing, but hardly surprising.
Despite its support from the Catholic hierarchy, the CCHD is a dissident, left-wing organization which has a long and scandalous history, dating back to the 1970’s, of financing other leftist groups which oppose Christian morality.
In recent years, the CCHD has funded groups which support legal abortion, contraception, homosexual activism, Marxist politics and so-called transgenderism.
It has even funded organizations affiliated with Planned Parenthood.
The late Congresswoman Bella Abzug (D-NY), a militant left-winger with longstanding ties to the Communist Party, was once the recipient of a grant for a voter registration drive from the CCHD.
No faithful Catholic should ever contribute to the CCHD.
It is appalling that the bishops sponsor a group, which uses money collected from ordinary Catholics in the pews, to promote opposition to Catholic teaching.
The Campaign for Human Development needs to be boycotted by orthodox Catholics. Pro-Life Catholics have a particular obligation to oppose this toxic organization.”
