The Sunday Irish Independent is controlled by Ireland’s richest native born citizen, Denis O’Brien. He, the most powerful media man in Ireland, is worth about seven billion. He is a Boston College grad. And, unsurprisingly, is a close friend of Bill Clinton, with whom he invested in schemes to profit from the 2010 earthquake in Haiti. They had a luxury Marriot Hotel built there.
Fr. Z’s blog: A lay reader today alerted me to an opinion cartoon in The Sunday Independent in Ireland. That sad, earthly-enslaved nation repealed by referendum the 8th amendment to their Constitution, which protected the right to life of the unborn. The Constitution, by the way, begins in the name of the Trinity and says, “humbly acknowledging all our obligations to our Divine Lord, Jesus Christ, …”. See here.
