Cardinal Laments Italy’s “Demographic Suicide”

Zenit reports: Cardinal Angelo Bagnasco, president of Italys’ Episcopal Conference, opened the plenary session with this topic, among others. “More than 50% of Italian families today do not have children and among those that do, almost half have only one child, the rest have two. Only 5.1% of families have three or more children.” Read more here.

That would mean that, with the exceptions of those who want to have children but cannot, 95%  of Italian family couples of child-bearing age are practicing birth control. The figures are probably the same in other countries that were once Catholic.
