Carl’s Jr. Hamburger Chain Betrays Good Catholic Founder Carl Karcher

Carl’s Jr. was founded by a devout Catholic whose grandparents came from Belgium. He supported California’s Proposition 6 in the 70s with a donation of a million dollars to prevent active homosexuals teaching in public schools. His son is a priest, one of 12 siblings born to Karl and his wife Margaret Magdalene.  His son, Father Jerome Archer, founded Mercy House for the homeless and those afflicted with AIDs. Archer was replaced by the board of his own company sometime in the 1980s and eventually Andrew Puzder managed to work his way to CEO in 2000. Carl’s Jr (CKE Restaurants) was bought out a few years ago by Roark Capital Group, a mega-rich monopoly firm that specializes in buying out privately founded food franchises. It has taken over 25 of them so far (wonders of unbridled capitalism) including Carl’s Jr and Hardees.  Puzder is still CEO and current advertising announcer.

So, now, the company founded by an exemplary Catholic, who started out on the streets of Los Angeles with a hot dog stand, is now being boycotted by some groups for using scantily-clad models and actresses in their prurient TV ads.

Carl Archer ought to have kept his company in the family. No doubt he was too trustworthy with ambitious flatterers who knew how to ingratiate themselves and, like the parasites that they are, usurp another’s achievements and enrich themselves thereon.

CNA: The fast food chain Carl’s Jr. should drop its ads featuring scantily-clad models on the grounds that the ads both objectify women and harm men, says a social media campaign asking people to avoid the chain.

“They are just pushing the boundaries, and they are doing it blatantly,” Lexie Kite, co-founder of Beauty Redefined, said of the fast food company. More on this here.
