At issue was how social studies are presented to students. The program went from a left-leaning curriculum to something conservatives are calling more balanced. Included in the new presentation of social studies are how the UN potentially threatens U.S. sovereignty, and the true nature of “separation of church and state,” which students will be taught is found nowhere in the federal Constitution.
