Don’t Be a Quidnunc!

Oh, and you don’t know what a quidnunc is? Quid, what + nunc, now = someone who asks “what now?” a lot, as in, “have you heard the latest?” In other words, a quidnunc is a busy body, a gossip. You shouldn’t be one. It’s not Christian.

You should, however, be a quotquot. Wait… “and what’s a quotquot,” you ask?

Quotquot is an adjective, meaning “of whatever number, how many soever, as many soever as” — as in quotquot autem receperunt eum, dedit eis potestatem filios Dei fieri. “But as many as received him, he gave them power to be made the sons of God, to them that believe in his name” (John 1:12). OK, it is an adjective, so we are using it here substantively, which is completely legit in Latin. Trust me!

Be a quotquot. Don’t be a quidnunc. This message brought to you by the Ad Council.
