I was saddened to read in the following post that Father Emil Kapaun’s canonization could take years. What a great opportunity to declare an American chaplain whose deeds were so heroic, who brought so many to heaven by his priestly zeal in a war zone, a saint! He does not need to be declared a martyr. Why do North Americans who are not famous and have no powerful promoters get put aside? Pope Francis, this is a Church that is supposed to give preference to the poor! I wrote his life story for our website here. Others, less worthy, get canonized so quickly, why not Father Kapaun?
Catholic Culture: A cause for the canonization of Father Emil Kapuan (sic), the US Army chaplain who was awarded the Medal of Honor in 2013, could take several years, supporters have learned after a meeting with the Vatican’s Congregation for the Causes of Saints. Read more here.
