‘For He Is a Liar, and the Father Thereof’

Satanists call themselves such and then some of them, like the Satanic Temple blasphemers hosting the sacrilegious event at Harvard’s Memorial Hall tonight, claim not to believe in Satan. As one writer put it in his assessment of this group: Aleister Crowley would have these pathetic Luciferians and Anton LaVey for breakfast. Ironically, in bas relief sculpture on the facade of the Hall, which is dedicated to great orators, are the profiles of Saint John Chrysostom, Bishop Jacques Bossuet, and Edmund Burke (likely a secret Catholic).

Back in 1985, Cambridge’s Orson Welles theater showed the blasphemous movie, Hail Mary, by Jean-Luc Godard.  Goddard was a Marxist who once compared the Communist (who, according to gulag victim, Richard Wurmbrand, signed personal letters in the name of Satan), to Jesus Christ. The theater was owned and managed by Phil Meadows. The theater was destroyed by an electrical fire not long after hosting this movie, which, by the way, was personally condemned by Pope John Paul II when it was set to debut in Italy. Goddard pulled it from showcasing in Italy after the Pope’s condemnation. Saint Benedict Center was among the protesters who prayed in front of the theater during every showing.

CNA: The group acknowledged that the black mass is “inspired by, or derivative of” the Catholic Mass, but insisted that it is not intended as a mocking or “hateful display.” Rather, it said, the satanic black mass is “an affirmation of a set beliefs whose intent is not to marginalize anyone, nor incite violence, nor intimidate others.”

The Cultural Studies Club told CNA that “there is no formal doctrine” in Satanism, which allows “for a wide range of behavior” and is largely defined by its “outsider status” and ideas of individualism.

However, it also argued that “it is an outright lie to claim that the Black Mass ceremony as currently performed by Satanists, in general, is done with the intent of mocking Catholicism.”

“That position is arrogant and egocentric,” the group charged, suggesting that the black mass “has constructive meaning for the people who perform those actions” and that the offense of Catholics is not justification for stopping the event. Read more here.
