Identical Twin Priests Whose Mother Refused Their Abortion

This is a wonderful story, not only because of the mother’s refusal to abort what her doctors told her was a terribly deformed baby with two heads and three arms but also because of the twin’s own conversion after they both stopped practicing their Catholic Faith. Not only that, but, while she was carrying the two, the doctor also told the mother that without an abortion she herself might die. Immediately after delivering the first un-deformed baby the doctor told the mother that her womb would have to be scraped because the placenta would not detach. She said “No” there was another baby inside. Sure enough, the second baby came out seventeen minutes later.  Now this is one amazing story in every sense of the word. The two boys, Paolo and Felipe Lizama, were ordained together September 10, 2012, and they serve two parishes in Chile.

CNA: Two twin brothers in Chile say that their mother’s determination in protecting them from abortion despite the advice of doctors helped to foster their vocations to the priesthood.

“How can I not defend the God of life?” said Fr. Paulo Lizama. “This event strengthened my vocation and gave it a specific vitality, and therefore, I was able to give myself existentially to what I believe.”

“I am convinced of what I believe, of what I am and of what I speak, clearly by the grace of God,” he told CNA. Read more here.
