Indian Bishop Says Protestant Elders Panicking and Threatening Over Conversions to Catholicism

“Thousands of converts” are fearful of making a public entry into the Church. Fundamentalist Protestants have destroyed one Catholic Church and one Protestant elder warned the bishop personally that “something might happen” to him if he accepted any more Protestant converts into the Church.  The poor Catholics of India.  If it isn’t the Hindus, it’s the Bible thumping fundamentalists, although it cannot be said that the later have done anything to compare with the violent persecutions of the former.  I knew that there were Catholic enclaves in India; but I was unaware that there was a region in the northeast of the country that was mostly Protestant.  This is a very informative and encouraging article clearly demonstrating the grace of God at work even in the most remote places.

CNA reports: A leading bishop from northeast India says violence and intimidation by some Protestant groups there are preventing thousands of people from converting to Catholicism.

Bishop of Kohima Jose Mukala told the Catholic pastoral charity Aid to the Church in Need (ACN) that there has been an upsurge in attacks and propaganda against the Catholic Church in Kohima, a mainly Protestant region.  Read full article here.
