Israel Denies Apostolic Nuncio Entry into Gaza to Offer Mass

This is probably part of the ongoing after flow of the revised Good Friday Prayer that still calls upon God for the grace that the Jews accept Jesus Christ as their Savior. Jesus will always be “a sign of contradiction.” He will always be “in the way” of any Catholic-Jewish “dialogue” (dia-logos) because He is the Logos Incarnate. Just leave Christ out of the exchange and everyone will get along fine, seems to be the operative criterion for all false ecumenism, especially that between the Church and the synagogue.

Catholic Culture reports: Israeli authorities on Sunday morning refused to allow Archbishop Antonio Franco and other priests to enter Gaza to offer Sunday Mass. Calling the action ‘not only [a] violation to diplomatic relations between states, but also [a] violation to the right of faithful to hold their worship with no obstacles,’ the Latin Patriarchate of Jerusalem stated that the incident occurred ‘despite previous coordination with relevant parties at the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs and senior Israeli Army command since last Tuesday.’ A Jordanian priest commented, ‘It could be sensed that this behavior on the part of Israel is meant as a negative message to the Vatican.’ The story with appropriate links is here.
