John-Henry Westen Removed from LifeSiteNews

The following is a Catholic Action League of Massachusetts news alert…

LifeSiteNews announced today that its Co-Founder, CEO and Editor-in-Chief, John-Henry Westen, has been removed from his position as a consequence of a vote by the organization’s Board of Directors.

The announcement came in the form of an unsigned, fairly standard, boilerplate termination statement about Westen “spending valuable time with his family,” with the Board avowing “We wish him well during his sabbatical…”, while thanking him for his service.

“The board’s decision was made after careful consideration, extensive prayer, and a commitment to best serve our donors, readers, and employees…” the statement said.

There has been no public response, thus far, from John-Henry Westen.

Westen has been Editor-in-Chief of LifeSiteNews since 1997.

Catholic Action League Executive Director C. J. Doyle made the following comment:

John-Henry Westen is not only a courageous and outspoken advocate of the right to life, and a leading voice in the pro-life movement, but is an orthodox Catholic who has promoted the reform of the Church, exposed the scandal of clerical homosexuality, and called for the restoration of the Latin Mass.

Under Westen’s leadership, LifeSiteNews has been an uncompromising exponent of Christian morality and a fearless champion of the perennial moral teachings, and of the just war teachings, of the Catholic Faith.

His departure is very troubling, and a serious loss for the pro-life cause and for traditional Catholicism, in both the United States and Canada.

John-Henry Westen and his family are in our prayers.
