National Politics, Geopolitics, Zionism, and the Reign of Anti-Christ

What connects US national electoral politics, geopolitics, Zionism, and the reign of Anti-Christ?

A lot, including prophecy, politicized Christian heresy, and the global political agitations of an Hasidic organization that works to inaugurate the reign of the Messiah, whose first coming they reject.

Let’s begin here: When my friend Dr. Maike Hickson, reposed the following on X, she was attacked for expressing her concerns. While jingoism and partisan politics have drained rationality from public discourse on this and so many other matters, Dr. Hickson’s concerns are quite real: Listen to what Rabbi David Katz says in this three-minute video, and then read below why this is so concerning.

On X, I replied to the effect that building the Third Temple would hasten the Reign of Anti-Christ. Some people probably thought this comment was completely from left field, so let me explain. The claim agrees with what some of the Fathers of the Church have said about the Temple of Jerusalem and Saint Paul’s prophecy in 2 Thess. 2:3-4.

See this brief explanation, excerpted from Will the Jerusalem Temple Ever Be Rebuilt?, by Jimmy Akin:

Church Fathers Weigh In

So what happened after the temple was destroyed? How did the Church Fathers interpret Paul’s prophecy [in 2 Thess. 2:3-4]?

They had a variety of views. Some thought the passage applied to the Church, but others simply inferred that the temple would be rebuilt and that the Antichrist would take his seat in Jerusalem. Advocates of this view include:

We thus have a mixed tradition, with some Fathers and Doctors (Cyril is both) advocating the view that Paul’s prophecy points to a future Jerusalem temple.

For a much fuller and better treatment, I recommend The Antichrist and the rebuilding of the Jerusalem Temple in Catholic teaching and prophecy, by Paul Cahill. This is part of a series he wrote for Life Site, all parts of which I will link below.

The position of Saint Hippolytus, cited by Mr. Akin, is also quoted by Brother Thomas Mary Sennott in his article on this site, The False Prophets — must reading for anyone interested in the ubiquitous and violent heresy known as “Christian Zionism.” Sadly, that error that has crept into Catholic circles owing to some very strange political and cultural alliances, especially in the Anglo-American world.

Even if the opinion of those Fathers is wrong, and the Third Temple is not the seat of Anti-Christ, the attempt to rebuild it would necessitate the destruction of the Al-Aqsa Mosque, the third holiest site in Islam, and would certainly provoke unnecessary violence. There are Christian Zionists who, in their heretical mania to bring about the Second Coming, think this is just great.

Life Site hosts two helpful series of articles, the first is a three-part series that concerns the Anti-Christ, and is authored by Paul Cahill:

The second series, which is topically related to the first, was co-authored by Paul Cahill and Dr. Maike Hickson, and it concerns the Hasidic Jewish organization, Chabad-Lubavitch, and the prodigious political influence it exerts in global politics. One of the most impressive things about this group, as a perusal of the headlines will show, is that they work all sides of the political spectrum internationally, keeping their mouthpieces very close to political leaders on all sides.

In the United States, the bipartisan nature of Chabad-Lubavitcher influence is similar to that of AIPAC, which was recently exposed by the courageous congressman from Kentucky, Thomas Massie. While Rep. Massie is speaking from experience about how this works “on the Republican side,” it is clear from the helpful still shots in the video, that AIPAC’s influence extends to both parties.
